Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media , Film Production and Technology


As a student, you will gain extensive experience of using broadcast quality, state-of-the-art, equipment including professional Sony digital video cameras and have access to a media studio equipped with vision mixer, green screen, and tungsten lights. Computer suites are equipped with Apple Mac Pro computers running industry standard editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, iMovie, and Motion. At the end of the 1st year, students will be awarded a Level 3 qualification 90 Credit Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & TV) which is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. In the 2nd year, students will continue to develop a storyboard, designing digital idents, filmmaking, editing skills and scriptwriting as part of preparing a showreel to take to progression interviews. At the end of the 2nd year, students will achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

The Creative Arts Department have excellent links with local universities including Ravensbourne and London College of Communication who offer workshops on putting together a digital portfolio for submission to their courses. The course also receives visits from practitioners in the industry who will talk to you about pursuing a career in the media industries. There are a variety of opportunities for students on the course. These have included work experience at Channel 4 and the BBC.

5 or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 or above including the English Language and maths. You will need to attend a portfolio interview

Where does it lead:

You can go on to higher education and applies for a Foundation or BA Honours degree in a variety of subjects including ne art, sculpture, stage and theatre design, fashion and textiles, 3D product and eco-design, architecture, graphic design, package design, jewelry, ceramic and craft design. Alternatively, you can begin an NVQ apprenticeship in design support or NVQ apprenticeship in digital design
