Level 3 BTEC 90-Credit Diploma in IT
With so much investment and heavy reliance on technologies, Computing has become a global industry. With use of Artificial Intelligence and robots, low skill jobs are disappearing and you need to have specialist skills to secure a well-paid and desirable job. Many jobs have a digital element, and it is predicted that within 20 years 90% of all jobs will require some element of digital skills. As technological changes are evolving rapidly, there will be even greater demand for people with specialist digital skills.
This qualification is designed to support you to study Computing as a one-year, full-time course, or as part of a two-year, full-time study programme. All units are course work based. This course will offer you a broad range of computing topics that will help you to progress to higher education. We would also encourage you to fit a voluntary or part time job around your program of study at college. There is a huge range of graduate career options that are highly in demand such as, Programming, Database Management, Robotics, AI, Augmented Reality (AR), Cloud Computing, Cyber Security and Networking and Desktop Support.

5 or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including English Language and Maths. Progression from Level 2 IT/Computing at Merit or Distinction and Maths at grade 5. Possession of an IT/Computing qualification is essential. Entry is also subject to interview and satisfactory references

You can progress to Extended National Diploma or possibly Higher National Certificate (subject to grades) At the end of 2nd year, the qualification supports entry to, for example:
- BSc (Hons) in Information Management for Business
- FdSC in Business Computing
- BA (Hons) in Creative Digital Media
- BSc (Hons) in Business Information Systems
- FdSC in Business Computing with Networking.
