This course is suitable for those seeking to work professionally within the Health Sector, providing a valuable foundation for progression into Higher Education, Higher Level Apprenticeships or straight into employment. This course is an excellent choice for students interested in healthcare careers such as nursing (children, adult, mental health), midwifery, paramedic, radiography, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, laboratory technician, public health specialist or working in health promotion. One huge benefit of coming to us to studying a Health and Social Care qualification is the standard of relevant professional qualifications of the teaching staff, all of whom participate regularly in updating their skills. The course is delivered by nurses, health visitors, psychologists, scientists, sociologists and other teachers who are professionally qualified in their field so students gain an excellent understanding of the professional values of the sector because all of our tutors have worked within the health sector.

A compulsory and exciting part of the course is work placement and you will need to complete a substantial number of hours each year within a related healthcare setting which will enable you to link the theory from your classwork to actual practice within your placement setting. Work placement is supported by the College’s workplacement team and a clean, enhanced DBS is required at the start of the course. By setting yourself high standards and challenging targets with this course you will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills essential for a career within the health sector.
