Level 1 Gateway Skills for Health and Social Care

Students will be introduced to the health and social care sector. They will have the chance
to study psychology, sociology and biology.

Units will cover:

  • Introductory awareness of the importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults
  • Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care
  • Understand the principles and values in health and social care
  • Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health and social care

The course will also include:

  • Tutorial and academic review
  • functional Skills English
  • Functional Skills maths
  • Learning support

As part of your course you will be required to be in work placement. The college will
support you to secure a placement with our large network of employers.

Entry Requirement:

2 or 3GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English language and and maths successful completion of entry level 3 qualification, You must be at least 16 years old and will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check
