The BTEC Extended Diploma in Media Production is a two-year qualification equivalent to three A Levels. It has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study and employment in the media sector. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity in our industry-standard facilities and within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

The course explores our state-of-the-art television, radio and design studios where you will develop an understanding of the industry. Your lecturers are industry professionals who will help you to develop the practical skills you need, as well as showing you how to develop the research and planning aspects of any production. Throughout the course you will develop practical skills across multiple disciplines.

You can expect to study:

  • Film and TV Production
  • Editing Techniques
  • Radio Production
  • Journalism
  • Photography
  • Animation and VFX
  • Digital Design and Page Layout
  • Media Theory

You will undertake a final end-of-year project that will allow you to utilise the various skills acquired throughout the course. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.

It is a complete programme and is therefore not taken with any other course. Having an understanding and interest in different types of media production will benefit you personally and professionally.
