English Language grade 4. All Level 3 subjects require a minimum of five grade 4 GCSEs in total.

Topics

The Creative Media Production (TV and Film) UAL Extended Diploma is a two year course which is equivalent to three A Levels. The course would suit those students aiming for a career in the TV, film, advertising or broadcasting industries. You will learn to use a wide range of digital media and software editing packages and will create a digital portfolio showing evidence of practical assignments, written work and group projects.

This course embraces film, TV, music videos, soundtracks and advertising. You will be involved in all aspects of production and working behind the camera. It would suit those students interested in producing films, broadcasts and TV work and encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including scripting, directing, camerawork, sound, editing and special effects. Students will create a digital portfolio to show evidence of both practical work and written assignments, group work and presentations. You will have an opportunity to make a short film which will be screened at a local cinema.

You will also have a chance to learn how the creative process can be applied to audio visual disciplines and to careers in the media industries.

Students this year have visited the South Bank in London to shoot films, and there are visiting writers and practitioners who come in to college to talk to students about their work.

Further information

You will be able to study creative and media courses at university or alternatively you may choose to seek employment within the creative and media industries which have seen rapid growth and are increasingly attractive to young people. Many of our students progress to exciting degree courses at Ravensbourne University and on to careers in the TV and Film industry. You will gain valuable transferrable skills from group working and conducting presentations, which will be useful in any employment.
