The aim of this course is to develop beauty therapy skills and knowledge so that you can progress to the next level of study. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon. Students will gather evidence for assessment through the study of mandatory and optional units, in a real working environment without the need for fee-paying clients.

You can expect to study:

  • Basic manicure and pedicure techniques
  • Relaxing head massage treatments
  • Cleansing, toning and moisturising facial and body treatments
  • How to give advice on skin care and basic daily make-up application

To further enhance your skills you will cover artistic and creative elements such as nail art, themed face painting and photographic make-up. To underpin this qualification you will also develop a sound knowledge of health and safety and receive an introduction into salon reception duties, retail displays and working with others.

This City and Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a qualification that has been specifically designed to introduce you to practical beauty therapy skills. It will suit students who have an interest in working in the beauty sector and will develop knowledge and skills to prepare students for further study. Beauty therapy skills will be assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

  • Assessment Criteria

    Practical assessment and paper-based tests.
