Topics

The Level 2 Diploma in Information Technology is a one year qualification equivalent to three GCSEs. It is designed for students who are interested in progressing to further study in IT-related disciplines. IT systems have a significant role in the world around us and play a part in almost everything we do. This course gives students a broad base of knowledge of the IT sector. The units enable students to explore a range of areas to go on to study further and they will also have gained enough skills and knowledge to enable them to progress to a Level 3 qualification in IT.

This course is designed to be studied over one year, alongside English and Maths. You will work on a number of practical assignments in units and will be assessed on a grade scale of Pass, Merit or Distinction. Some units are mandatory and some are optional.

You can expect to study:

  • Website Development
  • Computer Games Development
  • Spreadsheet Modelling
  • Animation
  • Working and Communicating within the IT Industry
  • Customising Software

This course is a Diploma and is equivalent to 3 GCSEs. It is not studied with any other courses, apart from English and Maths qualifications, if a grade 4 at GCSE has not already been achieved in either or both.

  • Assessment Criteria

    100% Coursework.

Further Information
