Course Overview

Entry requirements

4 GCSE at grade 3 or higher, including English and Maths, or equivalent Level 1 qualification.

The Level 2 NVQ Activity Leadership is a highly practical, work-based course. It is aimed at students who want to gain experience in the PE and coaching sectors.

The course is assessed throughout the year through completion of your portfolio and practical assessments, there are no exams. You will study a range of topics include planning, leading and reviewing activity sessions, health and safety, equality and diversity, supporting the work of a team and managing equipment. These units give you the underpinning knowledge to excel in your ongoing work placement which will be based in a local primary school. As well as your placement, there are a range of events in the community throughout the year that you will organise and lead at. These are great network opportunities to meet potential employers and gain experience with renowned organisations in the industry such as the Essex FA and London Youth Games. You will also study English and Maths to support your main course, and every student will be enrolled on a Sport Pathway, joining one of our established academies.
