• Five or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and maths • Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Merit or Distinction • NVQ2/VRQ2 • Where there are specific subjects required at GCSE we can discuss your grades with you when you come to enrol

Information

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to begin to build your career as a site manager, building surveyor, quantity surveyor, project manager, building engineer or facilities manager. You will require and interview for entry on to this course. Example of Course Modules delivered in year 1. · Unit 1: Construction Principles · Unit 2: Construction Design · Unit 4: Construction Technology · Unit 5: Health and Safety in Construction · Unit 6: Surveying in Construction · Unit 7: Graphical Detailing · Unit 8: Building Regulations and Control in Construction At the end of the course, you should be able to demonstrate a broad understanding and application of relevant principles relating to modern construction, including: materials and their use, health, safety and welfare, construction methods and maintenance, the law in relation to the built environment, design principles and responsibilities in regards to the environment.

What Can This Course Lead To

Successful completion of the Foundation Diploma will allow progression on to the Diploma (Part time) or Extended Diploma (full time) studied at our Rainham Campus. On completion of the additional year you will be eligible for entry to the Level 4 HNC programme at Havering College. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to a degree course at university. The HNC course can also be used as an entry requirement for professional qualifications such as those offered by Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
