Course Overview
Entry requirements
Students must usually have completed the Level 1 Diploma. Direct entry may be allowed for mature candidates or those with exceptional ability or very good GCSE grades. All places are subject to a satisfactory interview and Skillsbuilder assessment.
Information
This Level 2 Diploma will help learners to develop a range of skills including preparation of surfaces, painting, hanging wallpaper and decorative paint effects. Part of the course will also be to learn the safe use of tools and equipment associated with the trade. If you have successfully achieved your level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating and wish to continue your career this course may be for you. Candidates with some painting and decorating experience may also be considered. Course elements include: - Related aspects of health and Safety, - Information, quantities and communication with others, - Building methods and construction technology, - Erecting and dismantling access equipment, - Preparing surfaces for decorating, - Applying paint systems, - Applying foundation and plain papers, - Producing specialist decorative finishes.

Assessment Criteria
You will be assessed by practical assessments, unit question papers and an online multiple choice exam. If you do not hold a GCSE level 4/C in English and Maths, you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in these subjects (16-18 year olds only).
