From sketchbook to production, you will develop a broad range of creative and technical skills in fashion and textiles.
In our specialist fashion and textile studios you will explore an introduction to the skills and techniques needed to produce fashion and textile-related projects. Through practical and technical workshops you will develop essential skills by exploring practical elements such as fabric manipulation, design, drawing and illustration, garment construction, and textile techniques.
All students will also be required to complete industry-standard client projects and will develop their portfolio of work to continue further study. We place a strong emphasis on employability skills, such as presenting ideas, portfolio development and negotiating effectively with potential clients, this all feeds into the final major project of the course which involves an opportunity to present your work at an exhibition or fashion show.
You are required to complete practical tasks which must be evidenced in folders with annotation of your work and produce end outcomes based on a theme/task.
The work produced will relate to specific unit assignments and by the end of the year you will be expected to have completed your folder and two garments.
