This programme is designed to fast-track you to the best Creative Universities in one academic year. Your focus will be the development of a competitive portfolio of work, demonstrating research, idea generation, theoretical understanding and practical application of skills into the production of an exciting range of creative and artistic responses expected by the best of our Higher Education institutions.
For the individual, the focus of the programme is the development of maturity, critical and intellectual response, and of higher-level practical skills. This will be demonstrated by a public exhibition of work at the end of the programme.
Students have access to their own dedicated workspaces, and the Art and Design elements are delivered in a spacious, open-plan studio complex. Facilities include a variety of print making areas, a dedicated 3D workshop, ceramics and plaster rooms, a darkroom for black and white printing and studio for photography. Throughout the spaces there are Apple Mac computer areas, and specialist books and resources.
Students also have access to our specialist media studio and edit suite spaces. Facilities include specialist moving image and audio capture studios, specialist Apple Mac and PC-based editing equipment include Adobe Suite software. All programmes have access to portable location kit such as camera kits, audio kits, grip and lighting kits and students are encouraged to make use of these resources in their own time.
Our tutors all have relevant experience of industry bringing a wide range of experience and expertise to the programmes.

This is a highly practical single-year programme focussing on developing creative skills and own creative practice, and developing a University portfolio. This programme is designed for those students who want to improve their chances of progression to the best Universities and Art Colleges. In common with other Creative programmes, you will be working towards a self-devised Final Major Project (FMP) at the end of the year.
The common content of the qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. In addition, teachers, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted in order to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for those learners who choose to enter employment directly. The qualification provides the knowledge, skills and understanding that will prepare learners for further study or training. Learners taking this qualification will study one mandatory learning and teaching module covering six areas of learning:
- -evaluation and review
- -self-directed practice.
The qualification consists of a single Unit, delivered through two main phases: an initial exploratory phase, and a final confirmatory phase. The time frames for these phases is deliberately flexible to accommodate diverse needs:
- -Exploratory phase - learners experiment with diverse media, materials, techniques and processes across specialist skills areas. They should investigate progression opportunities and develop a portfolio of work to support existing practice and progression while developing towards a specialist area of practice.
- -Confirmatory phase - learners produce a final major project and draw upon the summation of knowledge and skills acquired during their learning. They should be encouraged to extend personal ambition whilst understanding the professional context for presenting their finished work.
