Maths and English, grade 4 or equivalent. A written assessments and interview.

Course information

This qualification is designed to prepare you with the knowledge, skills and understanding for employment an early year setting. On completion of this course, you will be included in the child and adult ratios, set out by Department for Education, in the Statutory Framework for Early Years criteria. This qualification requires learners to complete a minimum of 350 mandatory work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification. You are expected to attend two days a week college lessons, and be in an Early Years placement working or volunteering. The course is internally assessed by written coursework, supported by observation from a qualified assessor in a real work environment.

What Can This Course Lead To

Become a qualified Early Years Practitioner that will allow you to gain employment in a range of Early Years settings. In addition, progression to Level 5 Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies, or BA (hons) in Early Childhood Studies.
