Mental Health & Wellbeing

The well-being of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us. New City College recognises that everyone may need support from time to time with their mental health and well-being.

We have a range of services for students experiencing mental health difficulties and some support is also available outside of the college day.

If you are struggling with your mental health and would like to speak to someone, please email mentalhealthwellbeing@ncclondon.ac.uk and one of our specialist advisers will be in touch.

Alternatively, you can check out our Mental Health & Wellbeing VLE Page for more information, advice, and resources on managing your mental health and well-being on a daily basis.

The support we offer includes:

  • A confidential chat with a specialist mental health adviser
  • Exploring reasonable adjustments
  • Regular support throughout a student’s college journey
  • Liaising and consulting with relevant college staff/external agencies
  • Information and access to local mental health services
  • Developing strategies to manage the demands of college life
  • Sessions with a college counsellor (up to 6) or referral to external counselling services.
Counselling helps you address personal or emotional problems that get in the way of realising your full academic and personal potential. Our college counsellors provide practical therapeutic interventions (talking therapies) and give you a confidential space to talk about your feelings.

If you need support outside of college hours you can access support from Togetherall. To join, simply go to Togetherall and sign up under ‘organisation’ with your academic e-mail address.

  • Togetherall

NCC provides out-of-hours support for students through our mental health partner Togetherall. Register using your student email address in the box that says: ‘I’m from a university or college’.

Togetherall is a support service that you can access at all times. Whether you’re struggling to sleep, feeling low, stressed, or unable to cope, Togetherall can help you get support, take control, and feel better.

You will have access to a 24/7 online global community and support from trained professionals. Togetherall provides a safe space online to get things off your chest, explore your feelings, get creative and learn how to self-manage your mental health and well-being.

On Togetherall you are totally anonymous to other members, and your personal information is kept secure while you are on the site. The college will not be informed if you’ve signed up or known of your activity on the service unless they are seriously concerned about your safety.

Most members report feeling better and more able to cope with their workloads as a result of using the service and nearly 65% use Togetherall outside of 9-5 pm.

To join, simply go to Togetherall and sign up under ”I’m from a university or college” with your college email address.
