Hibban Musthafa

Hibban is an Architectural Assistant (Level 6) at Shepheard Epstein Hunter and says it is the perfect role for him because he can earn and learn at the same time.

Before joining College in 2014, Hibban was a pupil at Eastlea School in Canning Town but chose to travel to Havering because he was set on taking A Level Interior & Architectural Design – and the Sixth Form was the only place offering the course. He also studied A Levels in Graphics and Computing while he was here.

Hibban said: “I was desperate to study the A Level Interior Design course because architecture has been a passion of mine since I was about six years old. I have been fascinated with it ever since I can remember.”

While at College he set up his own business, Hibbsketchup, and worked as a Freelance Interior Designer developing initial ideas and providing sample sketches/demos as required for clients.

After College he progressed to Ravensbourne university for a year to study Interior Design Environment Architecture but he always had his eye on an Apprenticeship as he wanted to get out and work within the industry.

He secured a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship at Expedition Engineering Ltd where he was an Assistant CAD Technician, using software such as Revit, AutoCAD and Sketchup.

He was then thrilled to be chosen for the trailblazer Architectural Apprenticeship programme at Scott Brownrigg in Covent Garden, before moving to Shepheard Epstein Hunter in March 2020.

Hibban is so enthusiastic about the apprenticeship route into industry, he recently returned to college to give a talk to current students about the benefits of Architectural Apprenticeships.
