The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is a two-year course equivalent to three A Levels. It is for students who want to continue their education through applied learning in a vocational context. Students who study for this qualification will have successfully completed GCSEs or Level 2 vocational qualifications. This course is designed to assess students' understanding of business through vocational scenarios. It offers an alternative to A Level Business, allowing students to learn key components of business with 90% of assessment in the form of coursework.
The aim of this course is to provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector. You will learn about business start-ups, financial decision-making, marketing techniques and the importance of being an effective manager. It is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, usually via a university degree, or alternatively through junior business employment. Students have the opportunity to study several topics from a selection of options.

Students gain practical work-related skills through completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations. The course also helps to develop skills in communication and ICT. Students are expected to take part in work experience as part of the course. The structure of the qualification allows for a great deal of choice and flexibility and will give you the essential skills required for a successful career in business.
The BTEC Extended Diploma is not studied with any other subjects as it is a full study programme.
