It is with this in mind that we have managed a transition to online and remote teaching and learning. The following arrangements will be reviewed regularly and will be in place until further notice.

Our campuses are currently open to students by invitation only, so that we can effectively manage social distancing while at college. Please see our social distancing measures on our campuses to ensure we are welcoming you back safely.

L3 Year 1 students – sign up now!

New City College has begun reopening the campuses from Wednesday 17th June. However, that reopening will be small and gradual. Our top priority will be to keep our students, your loved ones, and our staff safe by keeping the number of students and staff in college to a minimum and for the shortest time possible.

We are inviting all L3 Year 1 students (16-18) to come in for a 2 hour session each week so that we can make sure you are all set up and well prepared for your second year of study with us.

Please use the correct link below to take you to the booking page where you can browse the available slots at your campus.

Not invited to come into college yet? Please continue to study at home.

  • For most of our students, your course will continue using online materials and workbooks.
  • Make sure you know how to log into your campus Virtual Learning Environment, and your college email. This is how your teachers will be setting your work, and receiving your work to mark. Instructions are posted below for your reference.
  • Please visit here for all other information and support for our current students.
  • We understand that the current situation is unsettling. If you feel you would like counselling support or to talk about a mental health issue, please see the information on this page.

For students who usually receive a free college meal, we will pay your daily meal allowance straight to your bank account so that you can buy food outside of college during this period.

For Attlee, Epping Forest, Hackney, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets campuses

  • Go to VLE
  • Log in with your college ID and your current password (set as your date of birth for the very first time you log in).
  • For help and support accessing the VLE please email: Systems.innovation@ncclondon.ac.uk or you can follow the step by step guide here.

Here you will access your on-line course materials, can contact your teachers and fellow students as well as submit work and see your feedback once it has been assessed. There will be various resources, worksheets, quizzes videos and links to on-line learning to keep you learning away from college.

Your teachers will be monitoring your progress with the resources and will support you on-line through the VLE where possible.

You can use the whole of Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) online which include your student email on Outlook 365. We will be sending you regular updates through your college email and the VLE homepage.

  • Firstly, do not worry about your place at New City College (including the Havering Colleges). Your application will be processed and we will stay in touch regularly.
  • Where your place would usually have been dependent upon GCSE grades, and if you are not able to take exams this year, we will put other arrangements in place to assess your progression to a college course.
  • If you would like to speak to someone about any of our courses, or need help with an application, you can contact our advice teams at info@ncclondon.ac.uk or visit our contact page

We have been asked to open our college for our students who have Education Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), students in vulnerable groups and some other specific students who need support throughout the COVID-19 closure period.

We have consulted widely with these students, parents and carers in order to understand how we can best support them.

Through our extensive attempts to call families, we have identified those students who need and would like to come to college. The numbers of students who need to attend are very low so we have closed several of our campuses. If your situation changes and you would like to request a place for your child going forward, or would like to ask us anything about remote learning during the closure period, please email us at ehcp@ncclondon.ac.uk

It is clearly a time of uncertainty and we will need to regularly review what we are able to offer.

Because of the age of our students, we have not been asked to provide college for children of key workers.

Please look out for emails from your manager and all staff briefings, on your work email.

For any staff queries relating to COVID-19 please email covid19@ncclondon.ac.uk

Your relationship with New City College is incredibly important. Your point of contact with the college will be in touch soon. We are all on our college email accounts, so feel free to get in touch with your college contact, should you have any concerns.

Please take a couple of minutes to provide us with your feedback, to let us know how you are getting on with the distance learning mode and the various systems we have in place.
