Course Summary

This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner, who wishes to work as an electrician in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further into an apprenticeship programme or into employment. This route at Level 2 is a step towards becoming a competent electrician.

Where Does It Lead:

This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the electrotechnical industry, which will prepare you to enter an electrotechnical apprenticeship programme or progress onto the level 3 Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation. On completion of the Apprenticeship, the learner will be recognised by the industry as competent as an installation or maintenance electrician.

Successful completion of this programme with good attendance and end of year report will give direct entry to the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (8202-30) which is also offered at NCC.



Entry Requirement:

Successful completion and end of year report on the Level 1 Electrical Installations course at NCC and GCSE Grade 4 in both English and maths. Direct entry is possible with English and maths GCSE Grade 4. All applicants will need to take an English and maths assessment and supply satisfactory references.

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electrotechnical sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

  • - Scientific Principles
  • - Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
  • - Electrical Installations Technology

NCC works with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the electrotechnical industry or specialist further study.
