Level 2 Women's Hairdressing (City & Guilds)

Course Summary

This course is designed to provide you with a good knowledge of hairdressing and enable you to develop a sound awareness of the industry.

Students will complete practical assessments on real clients in our state of the art hair salon using professional products. Working in the Inspire hair Salon, you will learn and practice all aspects of Hairdressing on a wide range of customers. Inspire Hair and Beauty is commercial themed salon fitted with excellent facilities to match that of industry, all fitted with top of the range equipment. The staff are all fully trained to an advanced level and have considerable experience of working within the industry.

Whether you choose to go self-employed; mobile or even work abroad. The skills you will learn on this course are essential to any career in the Hair industry you choose.

Course units include:

  • Follow Health and Safety practice in the salon
  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Permanent waving and neutralising
  • Shampooing and condition the hair and scalp
  • Promote produces and services in the salon
  • Cut women’s hair Colour and lighten hair
  •  Perm and neutralise hair
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector

Where Does It Lead: Upon successful completion of this qualification, and by meeting the required progression criteria, learners may progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or alternatively the L2 diploma in barbering, both of which will provide you with further training and experience and equip you with the additional skills that are required to work in the Hairdressing industry.

Entry Requirement:
  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs including English and maths grades 9-3 (formerly A*-D)

Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.
