Applications for 16-18 courses starting September 2024 are now open!

How to apply

Start by finding your course by using the search tool or browsing our range of courses from the home page. Once you find your course and the campus you’d like to join, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.

This will add the course to your basket. Next, ‘checkout’ your course, and complete the application with your details.

What happens next?

Our Customer Services team will be in touch to advise you on the next steps of your enrolment journey.

  • Age 16 - 18 (School Leavers)

    Application Process

    1. Apply for your chosen course or courses.
    2. Attend an Open Event at the campus you would like to study at – you can find our campuses here.
    3. Please note: If you are applying for A Levels, you will need to attend a Programme Meeting with a course specialist to discuss your course choices.
    4. Attend an Applicant Event in July – this is designed to give you an insight into your new course before you start in September.
    5. Complete your enrolment on campus – you will be invited to attend from Thursday 24 August.

    Please note: this is subject to meeting entry requirements and submitting a satisfactory reference.

  • Adults

    Application Process

    1. Apply for your chosen course.
    2. Attend an Open Event at the campus you would like to study at – you can find our campuses here.
    3. Attend an assessment/interview with curriculum – if required for your chosen course.
    4. Complete your enrolment on campus – you will be invited to attend the week commencing 28 August.

    Please note: this is subject to meeting entry requirements and a successful assessment/interview if this is required.

    We have a range of services geared up to guide you through your college journey – from the moment you arrive to the day you embark on the next step of your career.

  • Course advice and guidance

    We know it can sometimes be challenging deciding what and where to study, so if you need help deciding which course is right for you, our friendly advisors can give you some guidance and also support you through the application and enrolment process.

    The college holds Open Events throughout the year. At these events, you will have the opportunity to meet tutors from all course areas, student representatives, and the Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance Team, who will be able to answer any questions you may have.

  • Mental health and wellbeing support

    Our mental health & wellbeing team offers a range of support for you through your time at college. From confidential 1-1 sessions, to group events and stress-busting techniques.

    We have qualified counsellors who can help students through difficult times, such as relationship problems, family issues, anxiety, exam stress, depression and any other personal circumstances that are emotionally challenging and may interfere with their learning.

    And experienced mental health advisers who can give one-to-one support, such as practical advice, information, advocacy and referrals to internal and external services. Click here to find out more.

  • Financial support

    Funds are allocated to students needing support with materials and other educational costs. These include the 16-18 bursary, the college’s 19+ bursary and the bursary for students taking out an advanced learner loan. We also provide free college meals for eligible students.   • Additional learning support

    Our Additional Learning Support team can provide valuable support with your studies. Students can access support ranging from specialist assessment or screening, one-to-one study mentoring and special examination access arrangements, in-class support and assistance for people with hearing and/or visual impairments.

  • Pathway to university

    Applying to New City College could mean you are already on your pathway to a degree. We have very strong links with a range of universities and we will support you all the way. Our careers teams will give you all the advice you need once you are here.
