Students celebrate A Level results

New City College celebrated a strong set of A Level results, as well as supporting those students who need to appeal their grades further to the national moderating exercise. The college’s students have this year achieved a strong overall pass rate, which currently stands at over 95%, with 30% of those achieving high grades of A* to B.

Despite the undoubted controversy surrounding national A Level and other Level 3 results, New City College wishes to pay tribute to its students and staff for their results, hard work, tenacity and commitment to learning. This has resulted in hundreds of young people being able to go on to their next step, be that to their university of choice or embarking on a rewarding career.

New City College has two A Level centres – the Attlee A Level Academy in Stepney East London, and Havering Sixth Form College in Hornchurch.

Havering Principal Paul Wakeling said: “The majority of our students are progressing to fantastic destinations, including top universities, and we are very proud of them.”

He added: “We are still waiting on some results to come through and we are actively working with the relevant agencies to ensure that every one of our young people gets the grade they deserve.”

Here are some of our successful A Level students:

Nicky Ahadi (pictured) – Nicky achieved an incredible 3 A*s in Biology, Maths and Chemistry, despite only moving to the UK from Iran just before starting the Sixth Form. She will be going on to study Medicine after taking a gap year, where she will be working as a science and maths tutor with Yipiyap, a company that offers in-school support. Nicky said the hardest part for her was learning everything in another language and adjusting to life in a radically different environment following her move from Iran to Romford.
