Level 5 Pearson (HND) in Art and Design (Graphic Design)
This course is unique in its design as you will become a member of our design studio Blueorange. Blueorange is a live design studio delivering work to clients daily. From day one you will be assigned live client projects and real client briefs, giving you the experience of working with clients and developing your employment and communication skills. Throughout this course, you will be supported to develop your creative ability and technical knowledge through a wide range of briefs and projects.
You will gain an extensive understanding of the design process and professional behaviours. You will understand how to develop your own creative concepts, learn technical skills and produce finished design work both printed and digitally. You will work in our industry standard design studio with current industry software. This course will prepare you for a career in the exciting and fast-paced world of Graphic Design.
How Long is The Course and When Will It Start?
This is a full-time two-year course. You will need to attend 3 days a week. Each academic year is divided into three terms. The timetables will be published during August.
What Will I Study
You will be studying a required mix of core, specialist and optional units totalling 240 credits.

To achieve the HND Diploma, students have to achieve 240 credits that are assessed as Pass, Merit or Distinction. Individual tutorial support will allow you to meet with your Personal Tutor on a regular basis to discuss your progress. Your Personal Tutor will also guide you through the process of applying to university if you decide to further your studies at degree level.
The programme consists of you working on a series of live project briefs: designing (advertising campaign, packaging), editorial design and graphics/branding projects. You will also be working alongside the College's marketing team to promote internal and external events and campaigns.Throughout the two year programme, you will have the opportunity to attend educational visits and meet with visiting industry practitioners.

GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) or Level 2 Functional Skills in Math and English may be considered, 16-64 UCAS points from AS and A-Levels or Level 3 qualification in related subjects or, Access to HE Diploma
Mature (over 21) students, who do not meet these academic qualifications but have relevant work or life experience will be considered.
Non-native English speakers or those who have not studied the final two years of school in English, will take college assessments in English and Maths. Applicants are expected to attend an interview.
You should bring a portfolio of your work E-portfolios are also acceptable.Where does it lead:
Further studies: You can progress onto second/third year study in a Creative degree or other related subjects.
Job opportunities: You will have the skills and knowledge for employment as an Interior Graphic Designer, Creative Designer, Graphic Designer etc. or Work as a Freelancer in your chosen field.Course Fees: ££5750.00 per year (2019 fees may change subject to government policy and regulations)
