Entry requirements

112 UCAS points from a Level 3 qualification in a related science field or A levels in appropriate subjects or an access to HE diploma. Plus GCSE English and Maths at grades 4 or above.

Students will be invited to college to discuss their application with a teacher to ensure suitability.

Biomedical Sciences is the study of human health, various diseases, and their clinical features. The Biomedical Science foundation degree course develops your understanding of how the human body functions in health and disease. Our diverse foundation degree focuses on many areas of medical sciences and biosciences.

Your studies will include practical-based modules, blood science as well as research project which will help you to develop multidisciplinary understanding of human health and disease.

In Year 1 you will study vital fundamental sciences including anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, cell biology, infection and immunity and biomedical skills.

In Year 2 you will develop your understanding on blood science, pharmacology and toxicology, pathophysiology and nutrition and research skills.

This inter-disciplinary course will help you to explore links between different disciplines of biomedical sciences and these fundamental knowledges will help you to explore your options in a possible top up year.

What Can This Course Lead To

Students who graduate with the Foundation Degree if they wish to will be in a very good position to progress onto a level 6 one-year top up degree to gain a BSc Degree.

Students successfully passing the degree will be able to progress into a range of jobs, for example a Technician Scientist, Laboratory Technician, Research Technician, Development Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Science Technician etc.
