Entry requirements

Our typical entry requirement to this course is 48 UCAS points from relevant level 3 qualifications, such as:

  • A Levels
  • BTEC Level 3 Diplomas
  • Scottish Highers
  • Advanced Highers
  • Irish Leaving Certificate
  • Advanced Welsh Baccalaureat
  • Extended Diploma
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma in Engineering
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent level 2 qualifications.
An interview may be required before an offer can be made.

The HNC/D Mechanical Engineering gives candidates opportunities to learn and understand the core principles and technologies that underpin Mechanical Engineering.

What Can This Course Lead To

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in Engineering, or obtain the necessary skills needed to progress your current engineering career and operate as an Engineering Technician.

The course also provides the foundation for further qualifications including a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering, Foundation degree or as the first qualifying year for a B.Eng (Hons) Degree course.

The course has been designed to meet the requirements of the engineering industry and is underpinned by the research knowledge and industry experience of our staff.
