This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in engineering, or obtain the necessary skills needed to progress your current engineering career and operate as an Engineering Technician. The course also provides the foundation for further qualifications including Foundation Degrees and B.Eng degree courses. A HND qualification is accepted by some universities as the first two years of a bachelor’s degree B.Eng (Hons).
The course has been designed to meet the requirements of the engineering industry and is underpinned by the research knowledge and industry experience of our staff and past students completing the Mechanical Engineering HND course have gone on to employment in Mechanical Design and Management work for a wide variety of businesses, including motor companies and power generation and distribution organisations.
At the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge and practical application of a range of general and specialised engineering theories, and they should be able to apply these directly to their working situations. Students will have an appreciation of contemporary theory and also understand their responsibilities in regards to cost, sustainability and the rapid change that takes place within world-class engineering.
