* 5 or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including either English Language or Maths. * Progression from Level 2 at Merit or Distinction. Entry is also subject to interview and satisfactory references. You may also be able to re-sit GCSE math or English. Please include the entry requirements – GCSE grades, previous qualifications needed, interview assessments etc.

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Information Technology. Information technology is part of nearly everything these days! As we live in an increasingly online world, having relevant skills will help you stand out in the job market. This is the first year of a 2-year program that will help you develop your IT knowledge and skills to progress to either higher education or employment. This qualification is suitable for you if you are interested in gaining an insight into the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information, alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in IT. The qualification consists of 4 units of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are externally assessed. You will also develop knowledge and skills needed for entry-level roles related to IT including vocational apprenticeship roles and trainee/entry-level roles in software development, web/content development, mobile apps design, games design, programming and IT/business analysis support. The course will cover the following units: • Information Technology Systems • Creating Systems to Manage Information • Using Social Media in Business • Website Development
