Successful hair and beauty student returned to her college campus to encourage other students to participate in a national skills competition, which offers the opportunity to compete for the UK in world finals.
Astrid Evelyn Graban, ex New City College's Redbridge campus student returned to the college today to celebrate her success in reaching the final of the World Skills UK Finals in November this year.
During a celebratory lunch with the CEO of New City College Gerry McDonald, the Principal of the Redbridge campus, Janet Smith and Deputy Principal Narzny Khan, she spoke to a group of current hair and beauty students about their experience at the recent finals and encouraged them to apply to compete in next year's World Skills competition.

It was great to hear Astrid speaking about how much they enjoyed the World Skills competition. It is a fantastic achievement to make it to the UK finals and showcase their talents and creativity on a national stage.
WorldSkills UK LIVE is the UK's largest skills, apprenticeship and careers event. At the heart of the event are the National Finals of the WorldSkills UK Competitions, which are run in 70 different skills across industries including digital, technology, engineering, construction and hospitality.
Astrid was able to display her creative skills to a national audience at the Finals after excelling in the national qualifiers which took place in the summer.
She was joined by over 500 of the UK's top apprentices and learners who all competed in the finals with the aim of winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in their chosen skill.
