New City College is pleased to announce partnership with the Structural Concrete Alliance to deliver their new and improved industry specific qualifications.
This is a busy time for construction across London and the South East, and a busy time for the specialist concrete sector. SCA are a key player in this growing industry where every construction project requires concrete in some form - including the protection, and provision of remedial action, of existing structures. Michael Threadgold, Chairman of the SCA's National Specification & Training Committee, has demonstrated the sector's passion for improvement and gaining accreditation for its skilled workforce, an attitude that makes partnerships easy to develop.
New City College holds the Quality Kite mark of Mayor's Construction Academy giving access to funding and support from the Mayor of London's Office. With numerous sites across East London, North and West Essex, NCC is well placed both geographically and in terms of known quality to cater for the training needs of new and existing SCA staff.
To demonstrate its support, New City College has set aside a location within the Epping Forest Campus for SCA training and delivery, including a designated classroom and outside training space. Alongside this will be additional space for the Concrete Drilling and Sawing Association, two very distinct but linked sectors. As the provision grows and with new building works taking place over the next few years at the Rainham, Tower Hamlets (Poplar) and Hackney campuses, New City College are well placed to add additional space training projects as the need arises.
With both sectors currently in lock-down this has been and is, an ideal time to re-think and re-evaluate short and long term priorities. The SCA is most definitely part of this planning and New City College are exceptionally proud to collaborate in this new partnership.
