Career Ready Business students have recently participated in the Big Idea Challenge in partnership with London Metropolitan University. Students were given the opportunity to come up with an innovative business idea. Team PRO-TECHT consisting of Fabbiha Begum, Rrezarta Ratkoceri, Nayab Shah and Hifza Amir, submitted their idea and were then selected to represent New City College Redbridge at the Big Idea Bootcamp Day held at NatWest. At the Bootcamp Day, students attended with teams from 25 other colleges and were paired with a mentor to develop their idea and practice pitching.
Students came up with the product named PRO-TECHT, which acts as a safety chip which can be installed in devices and activated in dangerous situations.
An important part of the Big Idea Challenge is the People's Choice Award, the winner of which is determined via a voting round where the public get to view and vote online for their favourites pitch. Last year this category received more than 10,000 votes from more than 120 different countries around the world. The team with the most votes will be crowned the People's Choice Winner at the Gala Awards night on April the 26th at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
The story has also been featured in the Ilford Recorder.
