New City College has shown its commitment to the professional status of its staff and their continuous training and development, by extending professional membership of the Society for Education and Training to all teaching staff across the NCC Group.
This pioneering organisation-wide partnership of the Society for Education & Training, was launched at the college's teaching and learning conference today.
Joel Wynn, Director of Quality at New City College, said: "This is an important step for the New City College Group. Our teachers are professionals, and can now be recognised through this professional membership. This development gives our teachers professional status and a structured tool to progress in their career."
Martin Reid, Head of Membership at the Society for Education and Training, said: "We are delighted that New City College has become the first SET Corporate Partner to progress to full staff enrolment. This shows a true commitment to teaching and training staff. It is an investment in professional standards and high-quality staff development, recruitment and retention."
From September, New City College teaching staff will be entitled to use the ASET, MSET or FSET letters after their names. They will have access to resources and training, including the opportunity to study for QTLS and Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) as well as benefits such as access to the Society for Education and Training's mentoring service, and extensive networking opportunities with teachers and experts from across the country.
