Young Travel Entrepreneurs Show They Are As Good As Lord Sugar's TV Apprentices and Raise £200 To Pay For College Trip To Dubai

The Apprentice may be gripping us every week on TV right now, but students at New City College's Epping Forest campus showed that they had business skills as good as Lord Sugar's apprentices, when they organised a Christmas fete and raised £200 to pay towards a college trip to Dubai. All of the students who are studying for qualifications in travel and aviation at the Loughton based campus, are heading to Dubai in March next year as part of their course to experience the reality of careers in the travel and aviation industry.

In previous years, students on the course have also visited glamourous destinations including New York, Rome, Barcelona and Madrid, as a key part of their studies.

The students were keen to organise an event at the college to raise funds for their trip and decided that a Christmas fete would be an ideal way to do so and get their campus into the Christmas spirit.

Staff and students enjoyed fun activities including a raffle and traditional Christmas games including pin the nose on the reindeer, guess the amount of sweets in the jar and best decorated Christmas biscuit.

Speaking after the fete, Simone Butler, lecturer in travel and aviation at New City College said:

Everybody had great fun and it really shows how determined the students were to raise funds for their trip and also helped to grow their business and team working skills.

New City College offers both level 2 and 3 courses in travel and aviation, which also includes a partnership with Swissport at Stansted airport enabling work experience and job opportunities for students.
