Where Art Thou? Students Perform Their Modern Take On Shakespeare's Classic Tale of Love and War.

Talented aspiring acting and performance students from New City College's Redbridge campus have been impressing audiences with their modern take on a classic William Shakespeare best seller this Christmas.

The students are performing a revamped version of the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, giving it a 1990's setting and theme at the College's Box Theatre, located at the Chadwell Heath campus.

To make it more interesting for the audience and challenging for the actors, the main roles of Romeo and Juliet are split between four student actors, taking turns to perform these iconic and key roles in the play. The students want the audience to be second-guessing the choices being made by the characters throughout.

The main roles are being played by performing arts students Tony Jones, Theodor Daniels, Ayomide Babolola and Lydia Hammond. A college spokesperson said:

Our students train in a modern working theatre on our campus and these live shows are a great opportunity for them to perform to a live audience. The students wanted to perform their own modern twist on a Shakespeare's classic play that everyone is familiar with, so the audience should expect a few surprises!

Performances are taking place on December 12 at 1.30pm and 6.30pm and on December 14 at 10am and 6.30pm. Tickets are £5.00 per person available on the door or by emailing aly.hirji@ncclondon.ac.uk for tickets
