New City College is encouraging students to pick up a book and enjoy the joy of reading next year.
The College is running a reading challenge for six weeks from January 7th to February 15th and wants to encourage students to visit the learning resource centre, borrow books and then commit to read six books over six weeks.
Research has shown that one in six people struggle to read and that those who do read for pleasure enjoy more fulfilled lives, better employment prospects and educational opportunities.
And to help show their support for this great initiative, the boys football team at New City College's Tower Hamlets campus have committed to each reading six books over six weeks!
The team have all chosen their favourite books including biographies, classics, history and fiction.
There is an added incentive of a cash prize open to all students who read three or more books, so what better motivation to get into reading more often for both study and pleasure.
Go on everyone, pick up a book and get reading.
We are promoting reading next year at the college to encourage more people to enjoy reading to help improve their education, employability and everyday life.
