Our nursery is a 25 place Ofsted registered pre-school setting owned by the College and operating in the rear grounds of the Arbour Square building, London, El OPT. The nursery can register children aged between 18 months to five years.
Access to the nursery is via the main college building and benefits from wide automated doors, a lift and ramp for buggies and/or wheelchairs. The nursery building comprises two play rooms, two gardens, a kitchen and a nappy changing/toileting area for children.
The Main Play Room is set up to fully meet the Early Years Foundation Stage 2017 requirements, offering opportunities for development in all seven areas of learning. The Sensory Room is designed to offer a perfect space for small group activities and relaxation.
The nursery main garden is set up with large physical equipment that enables children to develop gross motor skills. The second garden, 'The Secret Garden' is a natural forest like environment which has been set up based on the Forest School principles. Its aim is to support children to learn more about nature, plants, and wildlife, and nonetheless, to encourage them to take calculated risks that help children boost their confidence, self-esteem and independence.
Students/Parents are welcome to use an allocated area for buggy storage if they need to. However, they are kindly required to fold and appropriately store their buggies as this space is relatively limited. Parents are also required to ensure they leave no food, drinks or medication in their buggies and to refrain from leaving valuables as the nursery is not liable for the loss or damage of any goods.
The nursery operates between 9.00am and 4.15pm - Monday to Friday, term time only, according to the College's yearly planner. The children's day in the nursery is flexibly structured in order to respond to their individual needs and abilities. However, this is what a typical day looks like:
