Our Story So Far

New City College (NCC) has developed since 2016 from the mergers of six individual colleges. Each of the previous colleges has a strong history and community roots as well as valuable links with local industry and business. NCC has maintained these important local community foundations and enhanced each of the campuses’ unique features with the financial stability and quality assurance of being part of a strong and robust organisation.

Timeline:

• August 2016: Merger of Tower Hamlets College and Hackney Community College.
• September 2016: Purchase of Westbourne Academy Bournemouth, an international language school on the English south coast.
• February 2017: The corporation was renamed New City College, with approval by the Department for Education.
• April 2017: Redbridge College merged into New City College.
• August 2018: Epping Forest College merged into New City College.
• September 2018: Attlee A Level Academy opened at the campus in Arbour Square, Stepney, Tower Hamlets, with guest of honour Clement Attlee’s great-grandson Tom Roundell-Green.
• August 2019: A three-way merger of Havering College of Further & Higher Education, Havering Sixth Form and New City College resulted in one of the largest colleges in the country with a turnover of over £100million and 20,000 students.
