Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements, you will need to have a short interview with the tutor. An understanding of engineering / technical drawing would be helpful.

Topics

The course is delivered over one evening each week for 35 weeks and is intended as a progression from the 2D level 2. Alternatively the course would be suitable for students with prior knowledge of Auto CAD, maybe using it at work. The software you will use is Auto CAD, you will learn to use all the commands needed to produce complex drawings including using blocks and blocks with attributes applied you will plot (print) your drawings to scale, you will be working in model/drawing space as well as using paper space/printing space.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment for this course comprises of three drawings externally set by City & Guilds and internally marked by the college assessor then externally verified by City & Guilds. When this practical work is complete there is a short answer question paper.

Further Information

Following successful completion of this course you could either enrol on the City & Guilds 3 dimensional CAD level 3 evening course or as level 3 is an industry standard level you could gain employment as a CAD technician.
