Course information

This pathway is designed for students with complex needs. There are two routes, for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties and for students who are autistic.

The core aim is independence (through communication development). The discovery programmes are highly individualised and built around the diverse needs of each individual student -person centered. Classes are smaller and the learning differentiated with overall SLT support provision. The course is a total communication course that will prepare students for adulthood by enabling them to reach their full potential to build skills in developing routines, improving communication and make choices /decisions that will support them to gain the maximum possible control over their daily lives. Students are assessed using a detailed baseline assessment that enable students to have individualised and personal targets to work towards in relation to their EHCP. Learner profile: ASD /SLD with complex needs appropriate to what the college are able to meet. Duration of the course is up to three years pending funding.
