Entry requirements

  • Must have an EHCP.
  • Be an independent traveler or working towards this.
  • Entry via successful interview and a commitment to participating in a work placement.

Information

The Supported Internship is a study program specifically aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 who have an EHCP and want to move into employment but may need some support to do so.

The aim of the course is to help young people develop skills and experience within the workplace, and achieve the qualifications they need to succeed in their chosen careers.

The overwhelming majority of young people with SEN are capable of sustainable paid employment with the right preparation and support.

Students on the Supported internship are supported in their workplace by expert job coaches, who are available every step of the way If required, with the aim to gradually reduced support as and when appropriate for the learners' needs.

  • 2.5 days per week based at college and other days will centre in the workplace
  • Job club sessions.

  • Assessment Criteria

    Assessment is ongoing through the academic year.
