Course Summary

Want to make a difference to your community and wider society? Want a job that gives you a front row position in protecting the public from harm? Looking at a career in the police or other emergency services?

Our two year course in public service will help you get there. It gives you a solid introduction into the many rewarding roles and responsibilities of working in the public sector. The course will prepare you for roles working in key public services like the police and security services, fire services, ambulance and emergency or the armed forces.

On this course you will study:

  • Government policies
  • Legal systems
  • Human behaviour
  • Leadership
  • Handling major incidents
  • Media perceptions of the public sector
  • Teamwork

There is also an emphasis on physical fitness and hands-on activities throughout the course.

Where Does It Lead:

This course is offered in conjunction with the University of Cumbria, London campus, and we have a progression agreement to support students apply for a degree in policing. You can progress to university to study public services in greater detail and specialise in a particular field.
