Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

Course Summary

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of
babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.

To gain this qualification, learners must achieve the 14 mandatory units which cover Health and safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Partnership working and Support the needs of babies and young children
with Special Educational Needs and Disability. The course will start in September 2019 and it is a 1-year course taught 1 day a week. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on a practical placement as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations. We recommend 250 hours across the different age ranges.

Where Does It Lead:

Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status

Entry Requirement:

Learners must be aged 16 or over. A level 1 qualification, a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, one must be English or equivalent qualification at Level 1. All learners are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure.
