Calling all young chefs – are you up for our free Mystery Box Challenge?

Are you a teenager with a passion for cooking? Do you know someone who loves experimenting in the kitchen to create delicious dishes?

New City College has the perfect opportunity for young chefs to show off their food skills with the launch of a FREE Mystery Box Cooking Challenge for 13 to 16-year-olds.

But there are only 12 places available – so don’t delay, apply today!

The Mystery Box Challenge will be held on Saturday 25 March at 9.30am at Rouge Restaurant, New City College Redbridge campus, in Chadwell Heath Lane, Romford, RM6 4XT.

The fun competition will involve contestants making lunch for themselves and a guest from a mystery box of ingredients – all provided free of charge.

The expert professionals from Rouge Restaurant will pick the best dish and the winner will receive a £20 Amazon voucher. The judges will look at criteria such as: Working in a tidy and organised manner; Health and Safety; Presentation of two identical plates of food; Showing enjoyment for cooking and having fun.

Following on from the Mystery Box Challenge, the New City College Junior Chef Academy course at Rouge Restaurant will be starting on 22 April. The weekly course, which runs on Saturdays until the beginning of July, is for juniors aged 11 to 15 years. For more information and to apply, click here
