Celebrating Student Success – Results Day 2023!

New City College is incredibly proud of all its students who celebrated amazing A Level and Level 3 vocational results on Results Day 2023.

The college bucked the national trend of a decline in high grades – with many students achieving above target and high numbers of BTEC students reaching the top Distinction* level.

Progressing at New City College to study the HND in Sport and Exercise Science Tottenham Hotspur Coaching Development Programme

Madison has been part of the Tottenham Football Coaching programme at Havering Sixth Form and says results day has coincided with celebrations of the England Women’s Football success in getting through to the finals of the World Cup. She said: “I hope this inspires more girls to take the course. There are so many people interested now in women’s football! I have been working with Tottenham coaches on my Sport course and the opportunities I have been given have been brilliant. The teachers always help you and back you up and give you extra things to do to increase your knowledge, like online learning. I would recommend the course to anyone, especially any girls interested in football coaching.”

Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* in BTEC Level 3 Computing

Progressed to a Level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship at Exponential-e, with potential to do a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in 2 years.

"I came to this country at the age of 16 and joined Tower Hamlets college to start learning. I wasn’t sure what I should be studying, but NCC helped me to identify what I needed to do to improve my chances of getting a job. The teachers from ESOL and BTEC IT helped me to reach the grades and they also helped me to decide what I wanted to do in life. In my first year of studying Computing the war in Ukraine began. I am Latvian, but my grandparents live there and during this time I was down and did not perform so well in lessons as I was too worried about them. My teachers and classmates felt my pain and worry and supported me along the way. I really appreciated that I was able to talk to such understanding people who helped me cope with the situation.”

The best thing about college was that I had some really supportive lecturers and tutors and they helped me overcome a few challenges, especially with balancing my part-time job with my studies.”

Progressing to study Dentistry at King’s College University

“The Medics group I was in at college was so helpful to me as I learned a lot about how to apply for Dentistry at uni and I was given lots of opportunities connected with the medical route. The teachers were great because in my second year I was only achieving Cs in Chemistry but they gave me loads of tips on revision and how to remember what I had learnt – and I ended up getting an A! I’m really happy with my results – it was worth the hard work.”

“My teacher was so amazing, he was attentive and patient and took the time to go back and help when I needed extra support. He was always encouraging the class and was so inspiring. I am so pleased with my results because I started doing A Levels at a different college, but decided that wasn’t for me so I took a year out and then came to Tower Hamlets college to study the BTEC in Applied Science. It was the best decision and I am now going to study Computer Science at university!
