Creative collaboration gives students the chance to shine on stage

Music students showcased their talents in a sold-out gig at the prestigious Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch.

The concert, part of a creative collaboration with the London Borough of Havering, delighted the packed audience with a wide range of music.

The singers and musicians are based at NCC Ardleigh Green and are studying the Level 3 Diploma in Music which includes a Music Performance pathway and a Music Technology pathway.

Janet Smith, Principal of Ardleigh Green campus, said: “The performances were fantastic and we are very proud of all those who took part. The creative collaboration with Havering borough is giving our students some great opportunities.”

Andy Greaves, Deputy Group Curriculum Director for Creative & Digital, said: “There really were some amazing performances tonight. The range of music was challenging and pitched sensitively for the level that our students are working at. Their development from the start of the year has been significant and they thoroughly deserved this opportunity to showcase it in a real-life setting.

“It was heart-warming to see the students supporting each other and also to see the joy on the faces of the audience.

“This was a great showcase in the community and the partnership work with Havering is continuing which is a sign of exciting things to come.”

Alison Arnaud, Principal of NCC Hackney and Tower Hamlets campuses said: “What a fantastic night! A great achievement and a wonderful demonstration of the talent our college develops.”
