Former student Ellie excited for TV acting debut

Former New City College student Ellie Goldstein has taken yet another exciting step in her career – this time on screen – with her acting debut in the sixth series of BBC Children’s TV hit show, Malory Towers.

The CBBC adaptation of one of Enid Blyton’s beloved classic novels recently welcomed Ellie to the cast, where she portrays Nancy, a history‑loving, lacrosse‑playing prankster with a big heart.

Ellie studied Performing Arts at New City College Redbridge Campus and made a huge impact on teachers and her fellow classmates while she was a learner. They were incredibly proud when she first took the public stage in the fashion world – most notably creating waves as the first model with Down’s syndrome to appear on the cover of Vogue.

New City College student Ellie Goldstein features on the cover of Vogue magazine disability issue.

She is now an ambassador for diversity and inclusion and is celebrated worldwide. She is known for her positive attitude, determination and her knack for breaking down barriers. She credits her time at New City College on the Performing Arts course with helping to build the resilience and confidence she’s now bringing to her various pursuits, including acting.

Ellie recently published a book and has a long list of other achievements. She has:

  • Worked for Quaker and Disney
  • Been an ASOS influencer on Instagram, modelling clothes and accessories
  • Was interviewed on TV breakfast show Good Morning Britain
  • Appeared in a Channel 4 documentary called New Model Agency
  • Has been on Celebrity Bake-Off – which aired this year on TV
  • Launched her second book ‘Ellie’ (her first book is called Against All Odds)

Ellie says she has two dreams still to achieve – to model on a catwalk in New York and to compete on Strictly Come Dancing!

In Malory Towers, Ellie’s character Nancy becomes friends with Darrell Rivers (played by Ella Bright). She first appears in episode eight – which was shown last week – and she will appear in new episodes on CBBC every Monday and Tuesday at 6pm.

We’re delighted to highlight and celebrate Ellie’s journey again from campus to camera, and we’ve no doubt there’s more to come from this remarkable young woman!
