I knew from the moment I left school that an apprenticeship was the route I wanted to take. After spending a year at college studying A Levels, I decided to make a change – I left to start an apprenticeship instead. Looking back now, I’m so glad I made that decision.
I began my apprenticeship in September 2023, and since then I’ve completed and passed my course! During that time, I worked at Harrison How Ltd, an electrical contractors in London as an Office Administrator – a role that’s kept me busy, challenged, and constantly learning. Even after finishing my course, I’m still working at the same company and continuing to enjoy every moment.
Doing this apprenticeship has been such a big confidence booster. Working with clients every day has helped me step out of my comfort zone, communicate more effectively, and handle new situations with ease.
A big turning point was the project stage of my apprenticeship – I had to lead a team, which pushed me to develop my leadership skills even further. Working on that project really showed me how important teamwork, good communication, and leadership are, not just on the course but during every day in the workplace.
Throughout my apprenticeship, both at work and at college, I felt completely supported. There were so many valuable things I learned that have had a real impact on how I approach my job and even how I see myself professionally.
The course covered so many aspects of administration, which gave me a great overview of the different sectors within it. My teachers were always so supportive. They were there to help with anything, whether it was study-related or something outside of work. Honestly, the course was incredibly worthwhile, and I’d recommend it to anyone considering this path.
Looking ahead, my main goal is to keep progressing. Over the course of my apprenticeship, I’ve grown so much and I want to continue that growth. I’m not completely sure yet what my long-term future looks like, but with this qualification under my belt, I know there are plenty of exciting options ahead.
If you’re someone who’s thinking about working in an office-based or administrative environment, I can’t recommend this course enough. It opens up so many opportunities for the future and gives you real hands-on experience that you just can’t get from studying alone.
Taking that leap into an apprenticeship has definitely been one of the best choices I’ve ever made, and it could be for you too!
