A talented student at New City College, Epping Forest campus has won a competition after designing a facemask with the theme Let Equality Bloom.
Jade-Dior Lam-Henry, 16, a first year Art & Design student, created the beautiful mask after the college launched the competition to raise money for charity.
Since everyone has been back on campus, the wearing of facemasks has been compulsory – in corridors and classrooms – so the college Enrichment team decided to get students involved in creating a cool accessory that they would be happy to wear!
Deputy Principal Phil Hall said: “We wanted to turn the whole issue of students wearing facemasks into something positive here at the Epping Forest campus. There were some fantastic designs from many students and it was difficult to choose a favourite, but Jade-Dior’s mask, with its wonderful Let Equality Bloom colours and decoration, was declared the winner.”
Students from all subject areas were invited to enter the competition with tutors and Enrichment staff judging the entries.
Jade’s design has now been professionally manufactured, and is on sale at the college with all profits going to charity.
