Jake is working as a Nursery Manager after achieving the Early Years Education Diploma at New City College’s Epping Forest campus.
He says: “I chose to study the Level 3 NCFE CACHE qualification because I wanted to gain a route into teaching and to fully understand the Early Years Foundation Stage. The campus was convenient to where I lived and I liked the facilities and opportunities that were available there.
“I was the Student Union President and a Student Governor which I really enjoyed. I loved getting involved in college life and I gained so much from the experience.
“After leaving college I studied Primary Education BA (Hons) at Canterbury Christ Church University in order to pursue my passion for teaching, gaining a 2:1 and becoming a qualified teacher.
“After roles as a primary school class teacher, my journey continued at Kids Inc Nurseries, where I took on various leadership positions. From starting at the Loughton branch to leading the Enfield branch, I embraced opportunities for development and growth in my career.
“Now, as the nursery manager at one of Kids Inc’s Ilford branches, I oversee a 100-place nursery and lead more than 20 members of staff.
“My dedication to childcare has earned me recognition within the company, marking milestones in my rewarding career. Alongside my work I have actively supported the Men In Early Years project, advocating for a gender-balanced workforce in the early years sector.”
