Rhys Huckins

Rhys landed his dream job working on offshore research projects in the Norwegian Fjords and the North Sea and says he wouldn’t be where he is today without the help and support of his teachers.

He studied A Levels at Havering Sixth Form and progressed to study Geology and Earth Sciences and then a masters in Sciences, Gas and Petroleum Engineering at Portsmouth University.

While at the sixth form, Rhys’ Geology and Chemistry teachers were instrumental in motivating and encouraging him to succeed and achieve the grades he needed to get to Portsmouth Uni. He says it is thanks to them that he didn’t give up when the studying got tough!

After uni he gained employment with Fugro has worked on projects in the Norwegian Fjords and sailing aboard the research vessel Fugro Synergy in the North Sea – drilling the sea bed for possible wind farms.
