‘We’re top tier: We’re dedicated, we’re determined and we’re ready to make an impact! That’s what I want people to know. It’s a very supportive environment and everyone pushes each other to be better.’
Confident, driven, and passionate about basketball, Success is one of the rising stars of the London Lions Basketball Academy at New City College. She is studying Level 3 Sport at NCC Hackney Campus and describes her team as a close-knit community that’s determined to make an impact both on and off the court.
How are you finding the London Lions Programme so far?
I joined this year, and I think it’s going really well. It’s been such a good experience getting to know new people and building connections. The environment is very supportive – everyone pushes each other to be better and there are loads of opportunities.
What does a typical week look like for you?
We have our regular classes, sometimes double lessons, and then we train. It’s a good balance between studying and basketball, and the structure keeps us focused and motivated.
What have you enjoyed most about the programme?
Definitely meeting new people and creating bonds with my teammates. I already knew my coach before joining, so it’s been a smooth transition. The sense of community here is amazing, we all get along and look out for each other.
What are your goals while on the programme?
I want my skills to keep developing, one hundred percent! My dream has always been to get a scholarship to play in the United States, but overall, I just want to see development and keep improving to make sure I am the best in what I do.
Why should other young women join the programme?
It’s such a welcoming community – even if you’ve never played before, you’ll feel at home. Our group is top tier! We’re very dedicated, and I truly believe we’re going to make an impact. That’s what I want people to know about us.
